Chapter 42

They were tired of running and found a big tree to cool themselves off.

However, Zui Hong didn't hurry to lower his head to eat the grass. Instead, he tensed his muscles, stomped on the ground with his right front hoof irritably, made puffing sounds with his nostrils, and stared at Feng Hun warily. If the reins were not tied, he might have subdued the wolf first.

Feng Hun also bared his teeth and stared at him. The front of his body was lying low, and his murderous aura was surging. His sharp fangs were frightening to look at.

A horse and a wolf were confronting each other at a distance of several meters, neither relaxing.

Yan Sikong sat on one side and couldn't help but feel nervous. “Feng Ye, they're going to fight."

"No worries." Feng Ye laid on the grass with one ankle resting on top of his opposite knee and enjoyed the gentle touch of the breeze. "They're just messing around. It's not the first day they've been like this."

"..." Yan Sikong looked at the two animals which were in a state of mutual hostility. How did it look like they were messing around?

Feng Ye opened one eye and glanced ahead. “One is a horse king, and the other is a wolf king. Neither will give in to anyone. They are strong enough and are worthy of being the animals of my Feng family!"

"Do you really want to see them compete?"

"Yeah." Feng Ye said with a wicked smile, "However, I'm afraid I can't control them if they really fight. I'm sure they’ll fight to their last breath, so it’s best to avoid it." He beckoned, "Hun’er, come here."

Yan Sikong immediately stiffened.

Feng Hun shook his huge wolf head, trotted to Feng Ye, and laid flat on the ground.

Feng Ye stretched out his long arm, hugged Yan Sikong's waist and pulled him over. Yan Sikong stared at Feng Hun without blinking, and his hair stood up.

Feng Ye said with a playful smile. “Hun’er, look. Look closely. This person is mine. Throughout your life you can't hurt him and you have to protect him well.”

Feng Hun let out a low whimper and looked at Yan Sikong with fixed, pale eyes.

"Hun’er, listen to me. I'm being serious." Feng Ye tugged Feng Hun's ear.

Feng Hun then came close and banged his head into Yan Sikong’s embrace.

Yan Sikong only felt his chest shake as if he had been punched in the chest.

Feng Hun drilled hard into Yan Sikong’s embrace with his hard, rock-like skull. That rich, thick, and hard wolf hair piled up in the area around his mouth and nose. He could only feel that his breathing was not smooth, and his body was being pushed until he was about to lie down.

Feng Ye said happily, "Look, he recognizes you now."

After drilling a few times, Feng Hun raised his head and turned his face, as if the kindness he displayed just now was just an illusion, and his posture was always arrogant throughout.

Yan Sikong forcefully laughed twice.

"Go and hug him."

"There’s no need."

Feng Ye said disdainfully, "Why are you so cowardly? I said he will never bite you. Hun’er was raised by me from childhood. He’s very intelligent and can understand everything that is said."

No one wanted to be called a coward. Yan Sikong thought that he was just cautious. He curled his lips, threw caution to the wind, and hugged Feng Hun's neck.

Feng Hun turned his head and glanced at Yan Sikong indifferently. Yan Sikong also looked at him nervously. He seemed to see a trace of impatience in his eyes.

However, he really didn't carry out any unnecessary movements and just let Yan Sikong hug him.

Yan Sikong heaved a sigh of relief. Perhaps there was a tacit understanding when the eyes of a man and a wolf met instantly. He didn't seem to be afraid of Feng Hun anymore. However, the wolf was very arrogant, and the horse looked like he despised the world. They were like their master.

Feng Ye leaned against Feng Hun and happily pinched Yan Sikong's face. “That’s right, Feng Hun will regard you as one of us from now on."

Yan Sikong also followed suit and half laid down on him. “Aren't you afraid of causing a disturbance when you bring him into the capital?"

"I didn't want to bring him back, but he wanted to follow along. He’s worried about me." Feng Ye played with Feng Hun's huge claws, "Moreover, he has never been separated from me since birth. He’s used to being in places where there are people and knows what not to do and where not to go."

"How many wolves have you raised in Datong?"

"All the wolves in the mountain appointed him as the king. When he left, his son became the new king." Feng Ye said proudly, "So, those wolves listen to me."

For the first time, Yan Sikong saw that there could be such trust and affection between humans and animals. He could not help but feel that everything had animism. “No wonder people call you the 'Little Wolf King.'"

Feng Ye glanced sideways at him and smirked. His eyes were shining. “They call me the 'Little Wolf King' because I’m a wolf."

Yan Sikong was stunned by his gaze that was full of wild nature and felt his heart tremble.

Feng Ye suddenly turned over. Yan Sikong sensed a trace of a dangerous aura. His scalp became numb, and he wanted to escape.

However, Feng Ye put both of his hands on each of Yan Sikong’s side and trapped him between Feng Hun and himself.

Yan Sikong was forced to look at Feng Ye’s wolf eyes. “What's the matter again?"

"I suddenly thought of a question."

"What?"

"Have you ever done that before?" Feng Ye tilted his neck, and his gaze was loitering on Yan Sikong's face.

Yan Sikong couldn't resist retreating. However, he could only retreat until his back was against Feng Hun’s back. His breathing instantly became rapid without him knowing.

"Speak." Feng Ye sneered, "You looked like you could do it with ease when I saw you cuddling that woman."

"It's just for show." Yan Sikong wanted to bite his own tongue. What's the need for him to explain? But on second thought, Feng Ye had always been willful and domineering, and would not tolerate it if he didn’t say anything at all.

"Oh, then have you ever done it before?" There was a tiny, wicked flame flickering in Feng Ye's eyes.

Yan Sikong frowned and asked, "Why are you asking me?"

"When I ask, you answer. Tell me quickly. Don’t lie."

Yan Sikong's gaze was a little evasive. After a long time, he said, "No."

Feng Ye became happy. “Really?"

"I haven’t even taken a wife." Yan Sikong was ashamed as if he was being mocked, "What about you? Have you done it?"

"Neither have I." Feng Ye bit his lower lip and smiled with his eyes narrowed, "Don't you ever think of trying it?"

"No." During the time when most youngsters were looking for love, Yan Sikong was experiencing great changes in his life. He didn’t have a moment to think about love, and he didn’t want to touch those prostitutes. After all, he had been educated with rites and music* for many years. Although he did have temptations, he believed that sophisticated people should not be subjected to low-level desires. This restraint was considered a kind of self-cultivation.

Feng Ye glanced down and then raised his eyebrows. “I don't believe you. That means you grew that thing for nothing, are you useless?"

Although Yan Sikong hasn’t had sex before, as a man, he couldn’t stand others saying that he was "useless". He raised his chin, "It will be useful when it’s time to use it."

Feng Ye grinned and said, "But I want to try it."

Yan Sikong’s back immediately froze.

Feng Ye came close to his ear and said flirtatiously, "Why don’t we try it?"

Yan Sikong put his palm against Feng Ye's chest and silently refused.

In fact, what he ostracized was not men. If necessary, he wouldn’t care if the other party was a man or a woman. He just didn’t want to fall into a chaotic and uncontrollable relationship with Feng Ye.

Feng Ye let Yan Sikong go while chuckling. Just as he was heaving a sigh of relief, Feng Ye suddenly gave him a quick peck on his cheek.

Yan Sikong's face suddenly flushed.

Feng Ye plopped down on Feng Hun while laughing heartily, rubbing his fur happily like a child who had successfully tricked someone.

Yan Sikong looked at Feng Ye's carefree appearance, yet he couldn't get angry. Instead, he became envious. Who didn’t want to be as carefree as Feng Ye?

He also laid on Feng Hun again, looking absently at the blue sky above his head. The sunshine penetrating through the gaps between the leaves was gentle and bright, and the loose hair on his temples caressed his cheeks under the cool breeze.

He hadn’t felt so comfortable and relaxed for a long time. He might have a sweet dream if he slept lazily like this.

A warm hand held Yan Sikong’s hand, and the rough calluses on the fingertips gave him a strange peace of mind. He moved a little, but he didn’t withdraw his hand and let Feng Ye be.

Feng Ye’s clear voice resonated along with the wind. “You didn't sleep well last night. If you're feeling sleepy, just sleep. I'll watch over you."

Yan Sikong blinked. He only felt warm and comfortable and didn't even want to move his fingertips. An extremely cautious person like him was so relaxed that he closed his eyes and entered the dream world.

----

Yan Sikong didn't wake up until dusk. When he opened his eyes, he found that Feng Ye was looking at him with a smile and felt a little embarrassed.

"You finally woke up." Feng Ye said briskly, "I was going to wake you up even if you didn’t. You're going to catch a cold if you sleep any longer."

Yan Sikong sat up and yawned, "I slept for 4 hours?"

"Yeah. It looked like you were scared by me and were unable to sleep all night yesterday."

"I told you, I'm not scared." Yan Sikong smiled, "You underestimated me." He stood up and saw Feng Hun who had just woken up too and was shaking his body of fur.

"Come on, let's go back for dinner."

The two got on their horses again. Feng Hun followed them for a while, then turned towards another direction and ran up the mountain. He soon disappeared into the mountains without a trace.

"Are you going to continue to let him stay on the mountain?"

"Yeah. Usually, I’m in the camp, so I can go and see him at any time. It's better than keeping him in the palace."

"That's true." Yan Sikong had been worried that Feng Hun would be bored to death one day and loiter the streets, which would surely cause a huge commotion.

When they returned to the manor, dinner was already prepared. There was no need to think about anything here. They only need to enjoy themselves. No wonder the royals like to come here to have fun.

After dinner, they played with the birds and fed the fish in the courtyard, treating these activities as an aiding digestive. Not even a day had passed, and Yan Sikong already felt awkward.

When it was time to rest, Yan Sikong did not forget to remind Feng Ye. “What time shall we get up tomorrow? Aren't we going to the summit?"

"Yeah, you can wake up whenever you want."

"I’ve never dawdled in bed. Let's go there early."

Feng Ye nodded and suddenly said with a naughty smile, "Do you want to go to my room? You and I can talk all night."

Yan Sikong sneered, "No."

Feng Ye didn't seem to mind. He only showed a determined smile. “Sooner or later, you will."
